The Best Greige Cabinet Color
I have waited years to write my detailed post about our greige cabinets. I shared the cost of a remodel with greige kitchen cabinets (here), but never a detailed post about the color.
If you're looking for greige paint colors, I'm here to help.
As someone who transformed their kitchen with greige cabinets, I can confidently tell you that you won't regret it. We recently moved to a home with all white cabinets, and I'm dying to paint them! I shouldn't complain because we started with black countertops -- we at least changed them to a calico white quartz, which better matches the kitchen cabinetry. It gives it more of a timeless feel.
I love a greige paint color that has some brown undertones so it can flex to grey or beige so it creates a timeless look -- especially with marble countertops. When it comes to a kitchen design, they balance well with brass hardware or black hardware.
The Best Greige Cabinet Color
Greige kitchens have been a popular choice for years now. They're a focal point in the kitchen. Imagine warm undertones and sophisticated color that is a mix of beige and gray. This color has a timeless charm and modern appeal. Greige isn't just a hue; it's an ambiance that transforms your kitchen into a haven of understated style.
Our greige cabinets matched perfectly with our matte white appliances as well as the white wall color. We used Agreeable Gray by Sherwin Williams. This combination exudes a pristine modernity that's equally inviting.
It effortlessly blends into various design schemes. The mix of gray and beige creates a calming and modern atmosphere, providing a peaceful place in our busy lives.
If you paint the cabinets gray, I would highly recommend a beautiful white color for the walls to complement it. I have written about the best white paint colors from Valspar here.
Greige: The Elegance of a Balanced Palette
Greige cabinets combine gray and beige, creating a balanced mix of two classic neutral colors. Think about it as the Goldilocks of colors – not too cool, not too warm, but just right. Greige's balance gives it a timeless quality, making it suitable for various interior styles and color schemes. It's the magic of finding the middle ground, a shade that avoids extremes and welcomes versatility.
It's a hue that exudes sophistication, a delicate declaration that speaks softly instead of loudly. This color possesses the ability to turn ordinary cabinets into a captivating design element.
The key lies in its understated elegance – a tone that doesn't command attention but effortlessly attracts it. Greige cabinets seamlessly match stainless steel appliances and matte white finishes, producing a combination that is modern, bright, and inherently fashionable.
A Soothing Contemporary Ambiance
Greige is not merely a color, it's a mood. This blend of gray and beige creates a shade that's soothing and modern. Amidst the chaos of contemporary life, a peaceful sanctuary is priceless.
Greige cabinets add to this serene ambiance, bathing the room in a gentle, welcoming light. This color can easily match with other colors, making it important for creating a cozy and welcoming kitchen.

TESTING GREIGE KITCHEN CABINET COLORS
When we were debating what color to choose we had 4 mock-ups created on actual cabinet samples. I highly recommend this approach since colors look different on different surfaces so you can find your perfect choice. Finding the right greige tone that's a functional gray with brown undertones is important. Unless you have a light filled space, you don't want a dark color. I would start with the gray paint colors below, but you could always add in more that you love.
Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray
Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray (SW 7029) is a beautiful greige color that's perfect for a white kitchen.
It's warm neutral tone that seamlessly merges gray and beige elements. It offers a subtle depth that adds character without overwhelming the space. You can use neutral color for different design styles, allowing you to create traditional or modern looks.
Timeless Elegance:
One of the most remarkable aspects of Agreeable Gray is its timeless quality. Unlike trendy colors that might lose their appeal over time, this shade maintains its charm regardless of changing design fads. Agreeable Gray cabinets go well with any kitchen style, whether it's rustic or modern.
Versatility in Design:
Agreeable Gray's chameleon-like quality enables it to adapt to a wide range of color palettes and materials. Whether you're inclined towards bold accent colors or prefer muted tones, this shade serves as an ideal foundation. Combine with wood for warmth, or with metallic finishes for a modern look.
Lighting Matters:
One of the enchanting aspects of Agreeable Gray is its sensitivity to lighting conditions. Depending on the light source, this shade can exhibit slightly different undertones, ranging from warm beige to soft gray. Test Agreeable Gray samples in your kitchen's lighting to see how it looks throughout the day before making a final decision.
Our kitchen faced east, but I believe the color would work well with north facing or south facing light as well. The kitchen was flooded with sunlight in our old home - light reflectance everywhere!
Creating Contrast:
To enhance the visual appeal of your kitchen, think about including contrasting elements. White countertops, stainless steel appliances, or colorful backsplash tiles can add energy and charm to a room with Agreeable Gray cabinets.
